The Hanover Book Festival

Home Page
An annual community event presented by the Hanover Writers Chapter of the Virginia Writers Club on the first Saturday of August each year, the Hanover Book Festival began in 2006 as a project to promote reading. While attempting to sell books, too often authors heard the discouraging words, "I don't read." In this age of television, movie, and computer screens, the written page is becoming an anachronism in many people's lives. To encourage and promote reading as an enjoyable experience, the Hanover Book Festival was born.

Mission Statement:  To raise community awareness of reading, promote reading, and educate about the processes related to writing books, and to encourage and support Virginia's authors.

A non-profit event, the Hanover Book Festival is dedicated to raising awareness of reading and books. Profits made by the Hanover Writers Club are placed in a college scholarship fund to be awarded each year to a deserving high school senior and presented at the festival.
