Books are Magic!

For the young and the young-at-heart, enjoy the wit and antics of master magician and juggler, JONATHAN AUSTIN! He will be attending the festival all morning to entertain and delight children and adults alike. His unmistakable performances as a magician combine the sensational and the subtle, which leaves young and old, families and singles thoroughly staggered and astonished, and helplessly laughing from his audience interaction. Jonathan orchestrates close-up magic with his outgoing, personable nature to create a highly entertaining and always fresh performance. Completely solid gadgets and everyday objects disappear, reemerge and/or slice through each other; fun and entertainment you will talk about long after the performance is over.

"Jonathan Austin is one of Richmond's most recognizable figures and, despite his youthful age, one of it's most veteran performers. He's a juggler, a magician and a comic. Most of all, he is everywhere."

Flair Section – Richmond Times-Dispatch – April 13, 2003

The Hanover Writers Club sincerely thanks all Book Festival sponsors.

READERS, MEET AUTHORS!

Meet author Cathy Maxwell--author of over 100 romance novels--along with over 50 more authors from Virginia!

Cathy spends hours in front of her computer pondering the question, "Why do people fall in love?" It remains for her the mystery of life and the secret to happiness.

AUTHORS, JOIN IN THE SLUSH FEST!

(What IS a Slush Fest? Click here to find out!)

There will be a morning session from 10-11, and an afternoon session from 12-1.

Authors will provide the FIRST PAGE of their completed manuscript for a moderator to read aloud, keeping the name of the author anonymous so as not to embarrass anyone. A panel consisting of agents and editors will comment on whether they would be interested in that author's work based on that sample, and if not, why. If an agent or editor is interested in the piece, the author and agent/editor may get together after the workshop to discuss it further.

Join in the fun by signing up for the Slush Fests!

The Hanover Book Festival was begun in 2006 by The Hanover Writers Club to help promote reading. While attempting to sell their books, too often authors would hear the discouraging words, "I don't read." In this age of television, movie and computer screens, the written page is becoming an anachronism in many people's lives. To encourage and promote reading as an enjoyable experience, the Hanover Book Festival was born. (Read about past Festivals here.)

Our Mission Statement: It is Our Mission to raise community awareness of reading, promote reading, and educate about the processes related to writing books, and to encourage and support Virginia's authors.
